Dawn Nelson, M.F.A., C.M.T., founder, was a teacher and massage practitioner for over twenty years when she became aware of the issue of touch deprivation among elders and the ill confined to care facilities. She created Compassionate Touch for Those in Later Life Stages in 1991. Her pioneering work started as an outreach program in the San Francisco area and soon gained wider recognition.  We owe Dawn our deepest gratitude for the ground-breaking work that serves as a foundation for the expansion of the Center's work today.
